Three Durant Lady Lions were selected to the Class 5A District 3 All-District softball team during a recent vote of league coaches.
Coach Jimmie Wyrick’s club was fueled by the underclassmen trio of Emma Sherrer, Dasia Lewis and Ryan Uber while posting a 12-27 record to finish fourth in the district.
Sherrer showed solid power numbers offensively by hitting .304 with a team-high 10 doubles and five home runs as well as driving in 19. She tallied 135 1/3 innings in the pitching circle, scattering 185 hits with 89 strikeouts and 50 walks to compile a 4.08 earned run average.
Lewis led the team with a .323 batting average in her freshman campaign, notching four doubles and one homer with 10 runs batted in.
Uber batted .264 at the plate while totaling four doubles, two homers and 18 RBI that was second on the squad. Her fielding percentage behind the plate was a dazzling .979 with only three errors in 140 total chances.
Honorable mention choices from Durant included Kenzee Petty, Kaitlen Rush, Anslee Morse and Kenzie Trotter.
Petty returned from injury to play the final 17 Durant games as she batted .225. Rush hit .287 with five doubles, a triple and 16 RBI. Morse hit at a .253 clip that included three doubles, a triple, nine batted in along with team highs with 24 runs scored and eight stolen bases.
Trotter rounded things out by hitting .267 for the season with four doubles, eight batted in and 13 runs scored.
