Durant’s high school girls track team had a pair of first place finishers in the competitive Atoka Track Invitational.
Avery Sager claimed the title in the 800 meters by posting a time of 2:29.39 with Emma Sherrer also taking the discus crown with a toss of 103 feet, 1 inch. Teammates Sheraya Strubble and Emma Gardner checked in just behind Sherrer as Strubble was third at 94 feet, 8 inches and Gardner ended fourth at 90 feet, 8 inches.
Iyana Wilson captured fourth in the 300 hurdles at 50.16 seconds and also checked in fifth in the 100 hurdles in 17.76 seconds. Sager also finished third in the 1,600 meters with a time of 5:40.12 as Samiah Clegg posted a fifth in the 400 meters at 1:04.62. Skyla Conditt also took third in the long jump with a leap of 15 feet, 6 inches.
The 800-meter relay unit of Olivia Crossland, Grace Emert, Clegg and Sager clocked in at 4:25.12 for second place with the Lady Lion second unit of Brailey Vaughn, Laynee Emert, Brooklyn Hill and Kayla Cox checking in sixth in 4:39.58.
Crossland, Grace Emert, Clegg and Sager also placed second in the 1,600 relay with Judi Frer, Sager, Hill and Laynee Emert teaming for third in the 3,200 relay with a time of 10:49.94. The sprint relay grouping of Aaniya Jones, Clegg, Starr Holmes and Kaitlen Rush also ended fourth in 53.3 seconds.
On the boys’ side, the Lions had three of the top six finishers in the 300 hurdles with Rylan Avery placing third in 42.26 seconds, Ivan Barrientos was fifth at 43.68 and Eric Williams took sixth in 44 seconds even.
K.J. Lowery chipped in a third place mark of 2:02.19, which was a personal record, in the 800 meters and was also fourth in the 1,600 meters at 4:52.90.
Madison Roper posted a time of 53.15 for sixth in the 400 meters, Carter Kemp took fourth in the long jump at 19 feet, 4 ¾ inches with Hunter Romero also finishing sixth in the discus at 126 feet, 5 inches.
The Lion 3,200 relay squad of Lowery, Roper, Elijah Parker and Kemp was third in 8:38.26. The 800 relay was fifth at 1:35.02 and the sprint relay unit of Juston Andrus, Williams, Avery and Boston Browder claimed sixth in 45.71 seconds.
Durant is slated to wrap up the regular season on the road at Duncan Friday.
