Senior stalwart Addison Polk claimed another tournament championship as the Durant High School wrestling teams tallied six placers in the rugged 58th Annual Malcolm Wade Invitational at Carl Albert High School last weekend.
Polk cruised through the 105-pound bracket unbeaten, finishing off the outstanding performance with a first period fall win over standout Claremore junior Abby Tietz in just one minute and 12 seconds.
Elsewhere in the girls’ division Olivia Frazer took fourth at 120 pounds, falling in a 1:16 pin to Noble’s Mika Crane. Lady Lion Chloe Marlow wrestled in the fifthplace bout, winning a 3:45 fall verdict against Heaven Sams from Shawnee.
Mariana Ramirez chipped in a third place showing at 135 pounds with Kyra Dry ending sixth at 110.
The Durant boys had one placer 150 pounds as Mac Barbush scored a couple of match wins before dropping a narrow 6-3 decision to Elgin’s Kason Meyer in the tournament third place match.
Next on the slate for the Lions is the Annual District Duals at McAlester where they will also meet Ada, Grove and Shawnee later this week.
