Sophomore Aiden Polk and senior Adam Haney each notched weight class runner-up performances as the lone Durant boys placers in the tough Ardmore wrestling invitational last weekend.

Haney, meanwhile, cruised to a 12-3 major decision in the 165-pound quarterfinal facing Henry Fields from Oklahoma Christian. He then stopped Davis’ Jett Jennings in a 3:28 fall to reach the finale, which went back and forth until a 5:03 fall victory by Tristan Buchanan of Lexington.
The Lions picked up strong performances from Mac Barbush at 138 pounds and Gaige Rocha at heavyweight as each notched 2-2 records but fell just short of placing matches.
Barbush bounced back from a round one loss to edge Davis’ Asher Digby in an 8-5 decision and then stopped Nolan Cochell of Community Christian in a 52-second fall triumph.
Rocha got off to a good start with a 4:34 fall victory against Isaiah Fragua from Ada, but suffered a fall loss in the quarterfinals. He rebounded for a 10-3 decision against Hank Green of Oklahoma Christian School before bowing out in the consolation semifinals.
