Senior Addison Polk qualified for the state wrestling tournament for the fourth straight year as the lone Durant grappler to reach the 2024 event despite several picking up regional victories.

Polk was a third place finisher at 105 pounds in the girls regional and will go into this weekend’s state tournament in Oklahoma City with a 31-5 record.

The Lady Lion standout pinned Theresa Hamilton of Bartlesville in just 41 seconds and then dispatched Sand Springs’ Ambriell Chambers by fall in 3:47.

In the semifinals, Polk dropped a 3:38 fall verdict to eventual regional champ Kyrstan Perez from Westmoore. She bounced back with a dominant 11-0 major decision against Muskogee’s Grace Fraser before finishing off EllaBabe Fisher of Ada with a fall in two minutes even for third place.

The girls’ duo of Mariana Ramirez and Chloe Marlow each notched one win apiece. At 135 pounds, Ramirez picked up a win over Lilly Henderson of Tulsa Rogers in a 4:00 fall. Marlow meanwhile notched her triumph with a 3:07 fall against Ponca City’s Alex Zimmerschied.

Bo St. Clair was the top Lion winner in the regional, picking up two triumphs at 144 pounds to finish with a 2-2 mark in the event. He scored a 9-4 decision over Stetson Matheson of Pryor in round one before a fall loss sent him to the consolation bracket.

St. Clair downed Claremore’s Landon Cates in a 2:32 fall but bowed out with a 11-4 decision defeat in the following match.

Klayton Smith, Matt Frazer, Aiden Polk, Britton Trotter, Braeden Emert, Asa Pierce and Axel Thurman each recorded one win in the regional.

Smith had a 10-0 major decision consolation round victory against Ezekiel Wolfe of Del City at 113 pounds, Frazer stopped Blake Watson from Tulsa Rogers in a 5:07 fall at 132 pounds while Polk had an 8-4 decision triumph facing Collinsville’s Colter Morrison at 138 pounds.

Trotter needed just 28 seconds to pin Emilio Garcia of Tulsa Memorial at 150 pounds, Emert dropped Tulsa Memorial’s Luke Walker by fall in 1:19 at 165 and Pierce bested Cayden Rose from McAlester in an 9-3 consolation round decision at 175.

Finishing things off, Thurman bounced back from an opening round loss at 215 pounds to score one consolation round triumph against Tulsa Memorial’s Amon Herring in a 5:17 fall.
