Rock Creek, Achille take baseball district titles

The Rock Creek Mustangs cruised by Haworth to claim the Class A district baseball title and Achille outlasted Soper in capturing the Class B district crown last week.

In the opening contest, Rock Creek romped to a 10-0 run rule verdict and then finished it off with a 6-2 victory. Achille meanwhile took game one 7-3, dropped a 7-4 decision in the second meeting and then blasted Soper by a 20-3 count in the decisive third game of the series.

Caddo rode pitching and Silo erupted offensively as each notched a pair of baseball victories last week to gear up for the regional playoffs.

The Bruins rallied past Tupelo, 5-4, and then held off Tupelo by a 3-1 decision.

Silo had little trouble as they blasted Atoka 13-0 and 9-0.

Rock Creek

Kelton Teal dazzled on the mound for the Mustangs in the opening shutout as he allowed just one hit, struck out 11 and walked a pair in going the distance.

Rock Creek blasted to a 4-0 advantage in the first frame and never looked back.

Kenneth Ashby posted a terrific performance at the plate with three hits, two runs and one RBI. Teal, Konnor Ribera and Jarret Barfield had the other hits for the Mustangs.

Ribera got the pitching call in game two and fanned 14 batters over six stanzas in earning the victory. He yielded two runs on three hits.

The Mustangs picked up a big home run for Teal offensively with J.W. Edelen chipping in a double. Ashby contributed a pair of doubles.

Achille

Landon Barnhill singled and came around to score on a passed ball in the fourth inning of the opener to break a 3-3 deadlock as the Eagles notched four unanswered runs to finish it off.

Four Achille hurlers combined to scatter six hits and three unearned runs while striking out eight for the pitching decision. Parker Coons was credited with the win after three and two-third frames while Jacob Clark tossed one and a third, Landon Barnhill one and two-thirds and J.B. Pointer a third of an inning in relief.

The Barnhill single was one of only two Eagle hits as the other came from Parker Crenshaw.

Soper grabbed an early 6-0 lead in the middle contest and Achille could never recover despite a pair of hits apiece by Daniel Williams and Joshua Williams.

Ashton Barnhill had a huge per- formance at the plate in the deciding contest, notching three hits while driving in six. Landen Worthington also had three hits and four RBI while Landon Barnhill contributed three hits and one batted in to help fuel a 16-hit offensive onslaught.

Landon Barnhill went the distance on the mound, yielding five hits in five frames and fanned six.

Caddo

Strong pitching led the way for the Bruins in a pair of victories as they prepped for the upcoming playoffs.

In the Tupelo triumph, Caddo scored twice in the bottom of the seventh to pull out the victory. Bayler Black walked, Cale Wigington was hit by a pitch and Jase Counce singled before a Boen Proctor double drove in the final two tallies.

That made a winner of Jake McKay on the mound as the righthander allowed three unearned runs on three hits and struck out four over the final three stanzas.

Wigington blasted a home run as part of his two hits and two batted in. Black, Counce, Proctor, Jet Rose and Noah Carvell tossed in one hit apiece.

Caddo claimed the lead in the first inning against Stuart with a pair of runs taking advantage of a Hornet error sandwiched between hits from Wigington and Rose.

On the mound, Rose was dazzling as he allowed one run on five hits with four strikeouts and four walks. Proctor fired the final two stanzas for the save.

Kale Brister had three hits while Rose contributed two in pacing the Bruin offensive attack.

Silo

The Rebels closed out District 3A-5 play with a perfect record by dispatching the Wampus Cats twice.

In the opener, Silo poured across four runs in the first inning and eight in the second while never looking back on the way to 13 hits.

A Zane Sander double led off the opening frame uprising ahead of singles by Jacob Wright and Cannon Atwood. Atwood added a double of his own one stanza later that drove in a pair. Nolan Northcott and Cord Standridge also tacked on doubles that knocked in runs.

That was plenty of support for Reign Scasta as he twirled a complete game, yielding five hits with six strikeouts and three walks.

Sander, Wright, Atwood and Warner Bradley all contributed two hits.

Aiden McCarty and Blane Beauchamp combined on a one-hit shutout in the second matchup that included six strikeouts and no walks.

Scasta had a massive game at the plate as he posted a triple and two doubles. Ty Hatley also notched two hits, including a triple.
