Following a shocker over fourthranked Cyril, the Rock Creek Lady Mustangs stunned sixth-rated Waukomis as well to win the Class 2A slow pitch regional last week and advance to the state tournament for a second straight season.
Coach Wade Johnson’s Lady Mustangs were 5-3 winners over Cyril before doubling up Waukomis, 10-5, in the title tilt.
In that championship matchup, the Lady Mustangs yielded a run in the top of the first inning but exploded for five in the bottom of the frame to take command against the Lady Chiefs.
Maddie Williams and Macey Weger each singled before Brittany Greenhaw drove in the first run with a third straight hit. Laynie Knight then cleared the bases with a three-run homer over the leftfield fence.
Emma Gann kept the run going with a double, Audrey Knight singled and Shelby Lyles plated the final tally of the stanza with a sacrifice fly.
Waukomis closed to within 5-3 in the fourth when the Lady Mustangs responded to put the game away.
Audrey Knight belted a solo homer for one run in the fourth and Rock Creek notched four more in the fifth for plenty of breathing room.
Williams doubled and scored on a We- ger single and Laynie Knight delivered a second roundtripper of the game to knock in two more. Hits from Gann, Audrey Knight and Lyles helped account for the final run.
Audrey Knight spurred the 14hit attack with three hits while Laynie Knight had the two that left the park and drove in five. Williams, Weger and Gann also had two hits with one apiece by Greenhaw, Lyles and Audree Skinner.
Silo Softball
Defending state champ Silo rolled into its 10th straight slow pitch state tournament with a dominant run to the regional title.
The Lady Rebels blanked Coalgate, 10-0, and followed with a 17-1 smashing over county rival Calera to romp back to state.
Silo scored twice in the opening frame following a lead off home run by Connie Tubby and an RBI hit from Bree Ginn and maintained that advantage until the fourth. That’s when the Lady Rebel bats exploded for seven tallies and never looked back.
Trinity Ford doubled to start the uprising and scored on a Cache Atwood single. Ginn drove in two with another double with Kostina Tubby and Jayci Webb also notching RBI hits.
Connie Tubby walked it off for the run rule with her second home run to open the sixth inning.
Kostina Tubby had three hits with two each from Connie Tubby and Ginn.
Despite being the visiting team in the championship game, Silo’s bats continued to sizzle by scoring early and often.
They wasted little time in grabbing the lead after Connie Tubby doubled in front of a Neely House two-run homer. Webb and Ford also contributed RBI hits in the four-run first.
Silo erupted for five more in the third with the key blow being a Dylan Paddock two-run triple. The Lady Rebels then tacked on eight additional runs in the fourth stanza.
Connie Tubby once again ignited the charge with a leadoff home run with Webb also going deep to plate two before the frame was over. House, Kostina Tubby, Ginn, Paddock and Maddix Sander also accounted for hits in the massive inning.
Calera Softball
Eighth-rated Calera improved to 31-12 with a Class 4A regional consolation title to advance back to state for the first time since 2021.
The Lady Bulldogs sandwiched an 8-1 win over Stratford and 4-3 triumph against Coalgate around a 17-1 loss to host Silo in the championship matchup.
In the win over 10th ranked Stratford, Calera got rolling early with four runs in the first frame with a flurry of singles by Taibree Melton, Taylynn Conder, Tori Allmon and Makenna Owens and then another tally in the second following Melton and Auhnesty Maytubby doubles.
Calera wrapped up with 13 hits led by Melton’s three. Conder, Maytubby, Allmon and Owens all had two each with one apiece from Jeslyn O’Dell and Laynie Paddock The Lady Bulldogs trailed 3-0 in the finale but plated three runs in the third that knotted the score. Conder knocked in the first one with a two-out single and Maytubby followed with a two-run blast over the centerfield wall.
Still tied in the fifth, Calera went ahead for good when Melton doubled to right and came around to score on a Conder single.
Melton and Conder each posted two hits to spur the Lady Bulldog offense. Maytubby, Allmon and Owens had one apiece.
Caddo Softball
It took until Monday to get their regional in, but Caddo managed to roll its way back to another Class 3A state tournament defense with a pair of romps over Mangum and Dewar.
The Lady Bruins raced to an 11-0 lead in the opener and cruised the rest of the way while mounting a whopping 18 hits en route to a 13-3 victory.
Jaycie Nichols had two of the hits, including one triple, and drove in four to spur the offensive charge. Jordyn Nichols posted three hits and knocked in two runs.
Caddo also picked up two hits and two RBI apiece by Presley Beck and Brylee Daniel. Rylan Peevyhouse and Anna Jo Adair also contributed a pair of hits each.
Coach Dustin McKay’s squad spotted Dewar a 3-0 advantage through two innings in the championship before erupting for 14 unanswered tallies to score the 14-3 win.
The Lady Bruins posted four of the runs in the third frame to take the lead for good, fueled by a Peevyhouse two-run triple. Beck singled home a pair to push Caddo ahead.
They tacked on one tally in the fifth stanza and capped the burst with nine in the sixth. Beck belted a home run while Jordyn Nichols and Lyndee Harless tripled. Daniel also added a double in the barrage.
Beck notched two hits and five RBI while Jaycie Nichols and Kayden Cowan tossed in three hits apiece. Harless and Logan Busby also chipped in two hits.
