Southeastern men’s basketball team continued a six-game homestand in impressive fashion last Friday night, dumping visiting Arlington Baptist, 94-74, for the Savage Storm’s second straight victory.
After an early week date with Texas Permian Basin, the slate resumes on Saturday with Texas A&M-Kingsville in town for a 3 p.m. non-conference matchup against Southeastern, which currently sits at 2-2 on the young season.
In the victory over Arlington Baptist, the Savage Storm came out red hot as they connected on 54 percent shooting from the field while building a 50-37 halftime edge. Coach Kelly Green’s squad even increased that mark by hitting 61 percent after intermission while capitalizing on a whopping 52 points in the paint for the contest. They outscored the visitors 44-37 in the final 20 minutes of play.
Four Southeastern players tallied double figures in the scoring column, spurred by a career high 21 points from Elijah Hughey as he drilled eight of 13 shots, pulled down five rebounds and dished out five assists for the night.
Landon Condiff sank three treys while scoring a season-best 17 points. Daniel Halldorsson pumped in 16 points while also contributing eight assists as Robert Briley added a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds, hitting all six of his field goal tries.
The Savage Storm also tallied eight points apiece from Ethan Wilkerson and Chandler Dickinson. Wilkerson also pulled down nine boards.
Jalen Williams punched in seven, Jayden Bridgeman scored two and Mihailo Stijovic added one.
