SE softball ends season in GAC tourney

Southeastern’s 2016 softball season came to an end in the Great American Conference tournament opener with a 6-1 loss to Oklahoma Baptist.

The Savage Storm ended with a 23-28 overall record.

Oklahoma Baptist scored at least one run in each of the first four innings while building a 6-0 advantage.

Southeastern left two runners on in the first stanza after a hit batter and Tally Rowland single and also stranded one in the fourth following an Emily Simmons double.

The Savage Storm finally cracked the scoreboard in the fifth frame when India McMurray led off with a home run but tallied only two more hits the rest of the way on singles from Simmons in the sixth stanza and Abrianna Kennedy in the seventh inning.

Simmons was charged with the pitching loss, working four innings while scattering six runs on eight hits with three strikeouts and five walks. Alyson Malone fired two scoreless frames of relief, fanning one hitter.
