Ever since her high school debut four years ago, Silo senior Connie Tubby has been one of the most feared softball hitters around.
During that span she has helped lead the Lady Rebel fastpitch squad to a sparkling 132-37 record (.781 winning percentage) and four straight state tournament appearances. The numbers have been even better in slow pitch where Silo won the 2024 state title as Tubby blasted 29 home runs.
That high school success has provided an opportunity for Tubby to continue her playing career for another highly-successful program just up the road at Murray State College after recently signing a scholarship offer with the Lady Aggies.
“It’s just an awesome feeling and truly a dream come true,” Tubby said of the scholarship opportunity at Murray State. “Coach (Aaron) Mullens gave me a tour of the facilities, and it really felt like home. I wanted to play in college since a very young age and had to put a lot of work in. I wanted to stay pretty close to home and it worked out. I couldn’t ask for a better opportunity.
“The coaches at Silo really pushed me and helped make me the player I am today. I am excited about the chance to make new memories and new friends as well.”
This past fall campaign Tubby notched a .423 average at the plate and .703 slugging percentage with many opponents pitching around her power-packed bat. She belted 14 doubles, a pair of triples and six home runs while driving in 45 and scoring another 36.
As a junior her numbers were even better with a .534 clip offensively along with 22 doubles, two triples, seven homers and teambest 56 batted in.
Tubby is expected to fit right in with Aaron Mullens’ Murray State offensive attack which has been one of the best in the nation each of the last five years, shattering school records along the way.
