Competing in the annually rugged Madill Wildcat Invitational last week, Durant High School’s track teams had several strong individual performances with the Lady Lions finishing third and the Lions seventh in the final team standings.

Both squads will be back in action on Friday at the Plainview Meet.

Leading the charge for the Durant girls was Amira Woods, who earned gold medals in the 100-meter dash with a personal best time of 12.15 seconds as well as the 200 meters at 24.55 seconds.

Woods was also a main cog in a pair of strong relay showings as she teamed with Iyana Wilson, Xakyla Cox and Kaitlen Rush to claim second in the 800 relay, clocking in at 1:49.31. In the 1600 relay, it was Woods along with Rush, Cox and Avery Sager that posted a mark of 4:21.69 that put them third in the highly competitive meet.

Laila Ahmed medaled in a pair of events as well, checking in third in the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.7 seconds and third in the high jump at 5 feet, 4 inches.

The Lions were spurred by Aiden Sager, who cruised to the 400-meter crown with a winning time of 50.84 seconds, which was a personal best.

Senior Kaydon Mimms clocked in with a personal best 39.84 seconds to capture the 300-meter hurdles championship and came up just shy in the 110 hurdles, settling for a runner-up time of 15.25 seconds.

Sager and Mimms were also key members of the Durant 800-meter relay squad as they teamed with Braylen Lyday and Shajen Davis to post a third place mark of 1:32.67.
