April 4-5

The annual Fort Washita Rendezvous continues from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday, April 4 and 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday April 5. The Rendezvous is free and it includes a journey through Chickasaw history with trappers, traders, mountain men and demonstrators. Fort Washita is located within the Chickasaw Nation, 13 miles east of Madill or 16 miles west of Durant on State Highway 199. For more information, call (580) 924-6502.

April 9

Bennington Public School will be holding a JOM (Johnson O’Malley) meeting on Thursday, April 9 at 5 p.m. in the school library. We will be discussing the financial proposal for the 2026-2027 school year. All parents, grandparents, students, tribal members, and guardians are welcome and encouraged to attend.

April 11

The Owen Foundation Blazing Fun Run & 5K for Autism Awareness and Inclusion will be on Saturday, April 11 on Evergreen Street in downtown Durant. April 24

Southeastern Oklahoma State University is having a DEA Drug Take Back from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, April 24 at the Student Union Loop. Prescription medication, OTC medication, solid and liquid medication and syringes with cap on will be accepted.

April 25

The Durant Sustainability Coalition Earth Day Festival will be from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, April 25 at Dixon Durant Park. The event will include sustainable businesses and education booths, live music, free food and activities for children.
