Choctaw Historic Preservation Holds Bioblitz/ Indigenous Archaeology Day

Long Caption

The Choctaw Historic Preservation Department partnered with Oklahoma Bioblitz for the 2026 Bioblitz/Indigenous Archaeology Day on Oct. 3 at Beaver’s Bend State Park. Representatives from the Growing Hope Program also assisted. The free, public event drew a number of students, families, educators, and nature enthusiasts. The outdoor classroom activities included traditional Choctaw history and culture, pottery making, textiles, flint knapping, weapons, and games. Through hands-on exploration and scientific observation, BioBlitz seeks to build environmental literacy, strengthen STEM skills, and inspire the next generation of conservation leaders.
