Brick Street Hotel celebrates with ribbon cutting

A historic downtown building that has been vacant for 15 years now houses Airbnb rooms and soon will include a restaurant and four hotel rooms. Teddy Gabbart bought and is continuing to renovate the building at 127 N.

Kiwanis has annual banquet

The Kiwanis Club of Durant had its annual banquet last week at First Baptist Church where awards were presented and new officers installed. The Legion of Honor award was presented to Joe Barrett, who joined Durant Kiwanis in 1984.

When Brandon Weibel started at Silo High School four years ago, he was the shy kid who didn’t want to raise his hand in class and today, he is the national FCCLA president for 2024-2025.

The Friends of the Donald W. Reynolds Community Center and Library will hold their annual Book Sale October 3 through October 5. The hours are Thursday, Oct. 3, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 4, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday, Oct. 5, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
