Durant First United Methodist Church, sponsored by the Missions Committee, held its 27th annual Teacher Appreciation Luncheon on Aug. 13 to show appreciation of their service to the community.

Residents to vote on Durant school bonds

The Durant Independent School District is having a proposition Sept. 9 for $4 million in bonds that would be used for constructing, equipping, repairing and remodeling school buildings, acquiring furniture, fixtures and equipment plus acquiring and improving school sites.

‘Workers Over Billionaires’ protesters rally on Labor Day

A “Workers Over Billionaires Labor Day Rally”was held Monday on North First Avenue in front of Market Square. The protest was organized by May Day Strong, a movement that started on May 1 this year, according to Marion Hill, who is a longtime member of the Bryan County Democratic Party.
