The Durant Kiwanis Club held its 43rd Annual Community Prayer Breakfast in conjunction with the National Day of Prayer May 1 at the new Southeastern Baptist Collegiate Ministries building. The keynote speaker was Trey Hedrick, director of the Baptist Collegiate Ministries.

Someone in the U.S. is sexually assaulted every two minutes and the Choctaw Nation had its annual Kick Up Your Heels event Saturday to bring more awareness to sexual violence.

America Connects Nature’s Adventure Mural Mosaic was unveiled last week at the Durant Multi-Sports Complex. This is a public art installation created through a global collaboration of artists and visionaries.

The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma officially opened its newest multi-family housing unit in Durant with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, April 22. The Haven Apartments in Durant, located on 25 acres, offers 216 one- and twobedroom units providing a comfortable and convenient living experience.

Joslyn Harbin has been named the Oklahoma Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year. She is a senior at Caney High School and has been a Durant Boys & Girls Club member for two years.
