Boys & Girls Club Color Run takes off

The Boys & Girls Club of Durant had its annual 5K For Futures & Color Fun Run Saturday morning and the event concluded with colored powder thrown in the air. Kam Sallee, CEO of Boys & Girls Club of Red River Valley, said the event was to raise funds for the Great Futures for the children program.

Janet Reed, who has been executive director of the Durant Area Chamber of Commerce for almost 20 years, announced during a chamber board meeting last week that she is retiring effective January 2025.

Training program to be held for Colton’s Run

Have you wanted to run a 5k but didn’t know where to start? Are you looking for a walking group? Do you like running or walking and encouraging others? Durant Trails and Open Space is hosting a walking/running training program called “Couch to Colton’s Run” for people at all stages of fitness.

DEAR PAW’S CORNER: My brother and I saw a dog that matched the photo of a lost dog on flyers around the neighborhood. We tried calling him, but he ran off. So we told our mom what happened, and she called the number on the flyer. I don’t know if the owners found the dog.
