The Mission in Durant hosted “The Coldest Night of the Year” 5K walk/ run Saturday evening. This is a national walk to serve people experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness.

Growing up as the daughter of a former wrestler, Caddo’s Gage Vaughn followed the same path as Durant standout Addison Polk through the Durant youth wrestling program. And much like Polk, Vaughn reached last week’s high school wrestling state tournament in Oklahoma City.

Bokchito woman killed in ATV accident

A Bokchito woman was killed when her all terrain vehicle overturned in a roping arena, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said. Thirty-six-year-old Cinnamon Mullens died at the scene of the 12:27 p.m.

SE Math and Computer Science students attend regional conference

In the scientific world, a torus is a name given to an object that is shaped like a donut. In this case, TORUS is an acronym for Texas Oklahoma Regional Undergraduate Symposium (for math students).

Kingston Town Council approved four people to serve as volunteer firefighters at its regular monthly meeting Feb. 12.

Southeastern announces record-high spring enrollment

Southeastern Oklahoma State University is continuing recent trends of enrollment growth, reporting the university’s highest-ever spring enrollment in the Spring 2024 semester. Southeastern’s 5,377 students enrolled in the Spring 2024 semester marks an increase of 8.0 percent compared to Spring 2023.

Rotary has Four-Way Test Speech Contest

Durant Rotary had its 2nd annual Four-Way Test Speech Contest for local high school students in Bryan County on February 3. The Four-Way Test is the motto used by Rotarians world-wide as a moral code for personal and business relationships.
