Many ribbons were won by Bryan County 4-H members on their fair exhibits entered at the Oklahoma State Fair held in Oklahoma City. Fortyseven counties participate at the Oklahoma State Fair.

The City of Durant addressed rumors that have been swirling in the community about the possibility of the former Big Lots Distribution Center being turned into an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention facility.

The Durant Trails & Open Space Turkey Chase 5K and Fun Run gobbled again last Saturday after a twoyear break due to construction on Crooked Smile Trail.

Ollie’s Bargain Outlet coming to Durant

Durant City Council, in a meeting last week, approved an economic development agreement that will bring an Ollie’s Bargain Outlet to a vacant building in a shopping center. It will fill the space formerly occupied by Clifton’s at 493 Radio Road.

Deputy court clerk receives staff member of the year award

Bryan County Deputy Court Clerk Myranda Richmond was presented with the 2025 Oklahoma Bar Association Family Law Section’s Courthouse Staff Member of the Year Award last week. Bar Association Board of Governors member John Barbush presented the award.
