Inaugural Heart Walk raises heart health awareness

The inaugural Beats for Life Foundation Heart Walk was on Saturday at Bloomer Sullivan Arena to make strides on heart health, congenital heart defect (CHD) and organ donor awareness. Ten-year-old Blair Dawn Sullivan, the daughter of Jordan and Angie Sullivan, was born with a congenital heart defect.

Commissioners say no to TIF district in Silo

Bryan County Commissioners Scott Goad, Justin Boone and Brandon Carr turned down a request in a meeting last week to begin the process of creating a Tax Increment Finance (TIF) district for a solar and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Silo.

The Choctaw Cultural Center’s Choctaw-Irish Friendship Festival this year will fill two days with activities on the weekend before St. Patrick’s Day. The festival runs Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14 from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. at the Choctaw Cultural Center, 1919 Hina Hanta Way in Durant.
