Choctaw Nation Housing Authority receives award for their Connect Home Program

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) presented the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma Housing Authority (HACNO) Connect Home program with the Trailblazer Award at its annual ConnectHomeUSA Summit.

Southeastern Honors graduates saluted at annual banquet

The Honors Program at Southeastern Oklahoma State University celebrated 17 program members who graduated in spring or will graduate in the summer of 2025 at its annual banquet in the Hallie McKinney Ballroom.

City council approves street improvement project

Durant City Council in a recent meeting approved a street improvement project to mill and overlay 4.76 miles on multiple streets in the city. Council members awarded a bid and approved a contract in the amount of $1,484,348.76 to Drave Paving.

A new sculpture honoring the heroic World War I Choctaw Code Talkers was unveiled May 22 at the Choctaw Cultural Center.

‘Night at the Museum’ launches fundraising campaign for SE Amphitheater project

A “Night at the Museum” was held by Southeastern Oklahoma State University at the Semple Family Museum for Native American Art last week, officially kicking off fundraising efforts for restoration and renovation of the historic Southeastern Amphitheater and its surrounding park.

Trail of Tears Bike Team rides from Mississippi to Durant

The Trail of Tears Bike Team was welcomed May 23 at the Choctaw Nation Headquarters after a 500-mile pilgrimage from Philadelphia, Miss., to Durant. They were honoring Choctaw tribal members who walked the Trail of Tears from Mississippi to Oklahoma.
