DEAR PAW’S CORNER: After taking my Terrier “Hank” for a walk around my subdivision yesterday, I noticed when taking off his leash that a tick had attached itself to the back of his neck! I don’t even know where it came from; we stayed on the sidewalk. I quickly tried to remove it with tweezers, but Hank is kind of a wiggly guy, and just as I tugged on the tick, he moved and the body of the tick broke off ! It looks like the tick’s head is still embedded in his skin.

The General Federation of Women’s Clubs of Oklahoma announced their offi cer team for the 2024-2026 Administration with three Durant women slated for state offices. The officers were installed at the Oklahoma State Convention held over the weekend on the USAO campus in Chickasha. The change in leadership will take place after the GFWC International Convention on July 1.

As a part of its mission to connect Oklahomans to the workforce, the Oklahoma Employment Security Commission (OESC) located at the Durant Oklahoma Works office has recently helped three, soon to be four, individuals find employment with the 49th Street Veterinary Clinic and Pet Spa.
