House completes deadline week

The House completed its third reading deadline on Thursday, March 14. We passed 422 bills and joint resolutions off the House floor before the deadline, just a fraction of the thousands of measures filed this year. These bills covered various topics, including banning rankedchoice voting, inflation relief and public safety. We’ll now swap bills with the Senate and consider their 279 bills, beginning with hearing measures in our House committees before they advance to the floor.

Wrecks injure woman, teenager

A Mead woman and a Bokchito teenager were hospitalized from crashes this week and last week, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said. On Monday, three eastbound vehicles were involved in a collision at approximately 7:45 a.m.

Young heroes from Silo bus crash honored

Silo Middle School students students Anthony Christopher, Brooklyn Snow, Summer Christopher, Tegan Motley and Hunter Garrison were recognized during an assembly March 13 for their heroic efforts in a March 4 Silo school bus crash when another vehicle hit the bus head on.

Man arrested for suspicion of pointing gun at motorists

A man was arrested Monday after authorities received calls about him pointing a firearm at motorists, the Bryan County Sheriff’s Office said. Deputies responded to the Washita Bridge near Fort Washita about a man pointing the gun at people as they drove by that morning.
