First-time participants Montana Technological University won the 2024 Safety Olympics hosted by Southeastern Oklahoma State University’s department of Occupational Safety and Health. The Safety Olympics consisted of six teams competing in six aspects of occupational safety and health: Accident Investigation, Hazard Identification, Training Presentation, Safety Culture Presentation, Safety Innovation Presentation, and Safety Jeopardy.

Durant City Council accepted the 2023 Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security Enhanced 911 Funding Sustainability Grant in the amount of $2,993 to fund purchasing of approximately 20 push-to-talk headsets and four headset adapters for the Bryan County Public Safety Answering Point (911 center).

Bryan County Commissioners Scott Goad, Tony Simmons and Brandon Carr approved the sale of the old Federal Building during a meeting Tuesday morning. Gabbart Holdings will be purchasing the building for $300,000.
