The Durant High girls cross country team and two boys individuals qualified for state with solid showings in the Class 5A regional meet in Moore last weekend.
Those runners will be competing in the State Meet slated for Saturday at Edmond Santa Fe.
In the regional event, the Lady Lions posted a seventh place team finish spurred by another outstanding showing from sophomore Avery Sager, who was a second place individual medalist with a time of 19 minutes, 58.98 seconds in the 105 runner field.
Katelyn Mauck clocked in at 22:30.49 to finish 29th with Laynee Emert just behind her with a time of 22:36.55 for 32nd place.
Rachel Cordell claimed 50th in 23:30.96 and Brightyn Pilgreen notched a personal best time of 23:32.67 for 52nd. Ella Sorrels rounded out the Durant finishers with a 24:26.09 to take 65th place.
On the boys’ side, the Lions placed eighth as a team but just outside of advancing as a full unit.
Kason Lowery and Zach Ervin qualified as individuals however with solid showings. Lowery was 17th in 17:24.15 while Ervin crossed the finish line in 34th with a time of 18:10.01.
Other Durant placers included Elijah Parker, who claimed 43rd at 18:34.92, and Christian Ortiz was 51st in 18:53.09. Madison Roper took 67th clocking a 19:31.63, Chris Becerra was 74th in 19:55.30 and Erick Lazaro checked in 108th with a 21:53.16 mark.
