Betty Brown

Betty Brown of Durant, Oklahoma passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the age of 88. She was born on Saturday, January 30, 1937 in Durant, Oklahoma to Annie Mae (Smithey) and Alfred Owens. 

She was a lifelong resident of Durant, Oklahoma, and was of Baptist faith. 

Betty was known to be a hard worker. She had a strong work ethic and was dedicated to her job. She would work for 5 years, without taking a single day off. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and going to the casino. She also had a strong compassion for animals. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Annie Mae (Smithey) and Alfred Owens; sisters Tincey, Louise, Cleona; brothers John Stokes, and Floyd Stokes. 

Survivors include her son Robert Brown, Jr. and wife Brenda of Durant, Oklahoma; daughter Lois Raborn of Durant, Oklahoma; grandson Chris Brown of Sulphur Springs, Texas, Jason Brown and wife Amanda of Arkansas; as well as many dear friends. 

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at Highland Cemetery in Durant, Oklahoma.
