Thelma Inez Simmons

Thelma Inez Simmons, born January 6, 1922, in Banty, OK, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2025, at the age of 103. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55yrs, Harvey Simmons, her son, Gregory Simmons, and her brother, Buddy Bell Sr. She is survived by her daughter Sharon Lively, granddaughters Kateland and Karley Simmons, daughter-in-law Carrie Simmons, her daughter in heart, Joan Norton, and many beloved family members. 

A longtime resident of Garland, she retired from TG&Y and was a faithful member of Freeman Heights Baptist Church since 1957. She was known for her kind heart, love of family, interest in family genealogy, home-cooked breakfasts, and her passion for gardening. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, faith, and togetherness. 

A memorial service will be held on September 27th from 11am to 12pm at Freeman Heights Baptist Church in Garland, Texas, followed by a luncheon from 12pm to 1pm for family members in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
