Jerry L. Campbell
Jerry L. Campbell, 86, of Beatrice, passed away Monday afternoon, May 11, 2026, at the Beatrice Community Hospital. He was born on July 14, 1939, in Durant, OK, and graduated from Calera High School in 1957. Jerry served in the Army National Guard from 1960 until 1963. On June 16, 1961, he married Linda M. Walker in Durant, OK. He attended Southeastern State College and then the American Institute of Baking in Chicago. Jerry was in bakery production for 43 years, ten years in Dallas, TX, 20 years in Kansas City, MO, and 13 years at Grandma’s Fruitcakes, retiring in 2004. As a young man he enjoyed fishing, camping at Lake Texoma, and deer hunting in Texas. After retirement he liked picking up grandchildren from school, taking them to their activities and making sure their homework was finished, as well as grilling burgers and making home made ice cream.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Campbell of Beatrice, NE; children, Jerry S. Campbell of Omaha, NE, Tonya M. Minor of Beatrice, NE, and Retired Army Major Kevin L. Campbell and his wife Mary of Ellicott City, MD; five grandchildren, Cassie M. Minor of Grand Island, NE, USAF Major Cody A. Minor, M.D. and his wife USAF Captain Kelly Minor Las Vegas, NV, Staff Sergeant Dawson W. Campbell of Ellsworth Air Force Base, SD, and Melanie YuRa Campbell and Melinda YuMi Campbell both of Ellicott City, MD; sister, Sue Campbell of Durant, OK; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Issac and Ernest Lee (Hobbs) Campbell; brothers, Bill (Sylvia) Campbell, Jack Campbell, and Casper (Bell) Campbell; sister, Hellen (Hick) Dillingham.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice with Chaplain Sharon Schuster officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the National Guard Honor Guard. Private graveside inurnment of the cremains will be held at a later date in Durant, OK.
