As one of the hottest bull riders on the PRCA Prairie Circuit, Weatherford, Texas 18-year-old Noah Lee did not disappoint on his first appearance in Durant. The youngster took home top prize money of $2,905 thanks to a stellar 92-point ride atop the bull called Okie Dokie to highlight the 85th Annual Durant Riding Club event.
In total, there was $79,600 in added money over the twoday competition that included a plethora of competitors that will be competing in the National Finals Rodeo at Las Vegas later this year.
Lee, who notched a seasonbest ride of 93 points just a couple of weeks ago, continued his mastery of the bulls with the strong ride to edge second place John Crimber, who had a strong outing of his own with a score of 90.5 that earned him $2,227. Travoris Zero claimed third with an 88 to take home $1,646.
Texas barrel racer Andrea Busby, who ranks third in the world, captured the top spot in the big money event as she clocked in at 15.11 seconds for the $2,765 purse. Lanita Peirce tallied a second place mark of 15.14 seconds for $2,351 with Molly Harper just behind in 15.25 seconds for $1,936 in third. The fourth place finisher was Alyssa MacDonald at 15.27 seconds for $1,659 while Emily Beisel, Tanna Renick and Emma Ricke all tied for fifth place in 15.32 seconds and claimed $1,014 apiece.
Steer wrestling had a big payout with Northwestern Oklahoma State University grad student Emmett Edler capturing top honors with a speedy time of 3.8 seconds for $2,443. There was a second place tie between Taydon Gorsuch and Garrett Oates at 4.3 seconds with each pocketing $1,965. Cody Devers, Burton Montgomery, Cole Walker and Skyler Woolls all clocked in with a 4.4 to win $1,009 each.
Tie-down roping titlist Jarvis Demery earned $2,259 with a mark of 8.8 seconds as Bryan County cowboy Dillon Grote came home for a second place time of 9.1 seconds in claiming $1,965. Zane Rampey ended third for $1,670 with a time of 9.3, Luke Coleman took fourth at 9.4 seconds for $1,375 with Kallen Johnson adding a fifth place mark of 9.9 seconds to wrap up with $1,081.
Three duos tied for the team roping top position and with times of 4.8 seconds to pick up $2,106 apiece. Those included the pair of Nathan McWhorter and Rance Doyal, the team of Paul David Tierney and Casey McCleskey as well as the grouping of Jhett Trenary and L.J. Yeahquo.
Jake Orman and Dustin Davis combined for a time of 4.9 seconds to take $1,474 for fourth place while the duo of Gabe Williams and Tyson Thompson clocked in at 5.1 for $1,158 apiece.
The saddle bronc riding championship went to Zane Magner, who scored 84.5 points on Southpoint Bucki for $2,042. Brady Irvine posted 82 points for second place money of $1,565 while Carson Neal ended third with 81 points for $1,157.
Kash Loyd was the bareback riding champ, earning 85 points for his ride on the horse named Fabio for $1,480.
Matthew McLanahan also took home $1,121 with 81 points for second place.
