Boys & Girls Club of Durant had its annual 5K for Futures & Color Run Saturday morning to raise funds for the club’s many projects.

Hannah J. McDonald, chief development officer for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Red River Valley Oklahoma, said the run is to raise funds for the Durant location and Kingston.
“This year, we opened our Kingston location as well, and so these funds will also support that location, so we’re super excited about that new addition to our organization,” McDonald said. “So, runners get white T-shirts with their registration and then they run in the race and they’re sprayed with dyed color water and then at the end, we throw color packets of colored powder up in the air and then we collaborate with the Durant Fire Department to kind of rinse them down so then they’re going home all wet, colorful and hopefully having a lot of fun and supporting a great organization.”
She said the funds raised support daily activities such as robotics, a dance team, and STEM activities.
“At Durant, we have about 117 members that attend every single day and so, it takes a lot of money to run fun, affordable, high-quality programming for them,” Mc-Donald said. “So, we’re really grateful for the community’s support in fundraisers like this and activities like this that help make it all possible.”
The Kingston Boys & Girls Club opened in January 2026, and this is the club’s first full school year.
“That community has been super supportive, super excited to have us there,” Mc-Donald said. “Over the summer, we were serving pretty close to 60 kids at that location which is awesome for a brand-new location. It’s in partnership with the school, so it’s inside of Kingston Elementary, so the kids literally right after school are able to stay and have a safe place to continue learning, to continue growing and building those life skills that everybody needs to be successful.”
McDonald said the Kingston location has big goals for the school year.
