Durant posted a 3-1 record and Caddo finished 2-1 in the Annual Durant Invitational held last weekend at the Durant Multi-Sports Complex.
The Lady Lions scored wins over Tishomingo (10-3), Comanche (15-0) and Ada (82) before dropping its finale. Meanwhile, the Lady Bruins fell in a narrow 3-2 verdict to Plainview in their opener but rebounded to topple Wilson (43) and Duncan (7-6) in a pair of nail biters.
Durant is slated to visit Caddo and Idabel to close this week before visiting Ardmore Monday for a pair of outings ahead of the final scheduled home game of the regular season on Tuesday against Tishomingo.
Korbyn Robinson had the hot bat for the Lady Lions in their tournament opener, blasting a single, double and home run while driving in five of the 10 DHS runs in the game. She got it rolling with a two-run double in a four-run Lady Lion first stanza and then contributed the two RBI homer in the second frame as they piled on three more runs.
Dasia Lewis contributed an RBI double while Emma Sherrer went the distance in the pitching circle, yielding three runs on seven hits while fanning five.
It was a Durant blitzing in the Comanche rout as a 10-run second inning outburst put it completely out of reach.
Anslee Morse notched three hits, including a home run, drove in three and scored three times. Lewis also pitched in three hits and two batted in with Kinsley Odom, Kenzie Trotter and Paisley Henson adding two hits apiece in the 17-hit arsenal. Trotter fired a complete game one-hitter with seven strikeouts in the run rule decision.
Facing Ada, the Lady Lions opened it up early with five runs in the first stanza and another three in the second and never looked back. Robinson led the offensive surge once again with a double, home run and two runs batted in while finishing as the only player with multiple hits. Sherrer earned the pitching victory, allowing one earned run and five hits with five strikeouts over six innings.
Things didn’t work out so well against a solid Hilldale squad, thanks in part to five defensive errors which led to four unearned runs.
Trotter tallied a pair of hits with Sherrer adding a double and two runs batted in.
In the Caddo opener, the Lady Bruins held a 2-0 advantage in the fifth but weren’t able to hold off the Plainview charge that included three runs in the final two stanzas. Gage Vaughn contributed a triple as part of her two hits but the Lady Bruins only managed two other hits on singles from Kayden Prince and Ryan Uber.
The Lady Bruins built the lead again against Wilson, up 4-1 in the third frame and were able to hold on despite once again tallying just four hits.
Paxtyn Pearson earned the pitching triumph going the distance while scattering seven hits as well as five strikeouts. Brylee Daniel homered and drove in one with Braylee Malone adding two hits and Prince the other. It was Caddo doing the rallying in the Duncan contest as they trailed 5-1 in the fourth frame ahead of the big comeback.
Four straight Lady Bruin hits in their half of the fourth included singles from Kiersyn Powell, Lila Hughes and Uber along with a Vaughn double. Two-out hits by Malone and Daniel put Caddo briefly in front at 6-5.
Duncan picked up a run in the top of the fifth before Caddo walked it off on the time limit with Vaughn’s run-scoring sacrifice fly.
Prince, Malone, Daniel, Powell, Vaughn, Hughes and Uber each had one hit.
