Competing in the rugged Moore Invitational loaded with Class 5A and 6A schools, the Durant girls cross country team placed fifth with the boys taking 10th last Saturday.
The Lady Lions were the third highest 5A finisher in the prestigious field with the Lions fourth in the 5A only standings.
Each group ran the 5K course and Durant standout Avery Sager was second individually in a group that included 108 varsity runners, clocking in with a time of 20 minutes, 1.4 seconds.
Elizabeth Hitchcock was a medalist as well, taking 16th in 21:49.5. Grace Morrison placed 48th at 24:21.2, Katelyn Hitchcock ended 57th with a mark of 24:41, Caitlyn Ortega was 66th in 25:19.5, Laynee Emert added a 74th crossing the stripe in 25:57.5 with Judi Free tallying a 78th place mark of 26:08.7.
On the varsity boys side, the Lions were led by Zach Ervin, who checked in 32nd with a time of 17 minutes, 55.4 seconds, and Hudson Phillips just behind in 33rd at a personal best 17:55.4.
The rest of the Lion placer all ran personal best times as Jared Osorio was 54th at 18:57.7, Blake Rhynes posted an 85th mark of 20:18.8, Hudson Lee placed 87th in 20:20.9 and Rylan Marsh ran to a 21:38.4 for 102nd.
Durant had several junior varsity competitors as well with top girl finisher being Aubri Hixon in 17th with a time of 25:44.1. Kyah French notched a 23rd place mark of 26:44.4, Selena Osorio was 35th in 28:38.3 while Ellery George wrapped up the DHS runners at 45th in posting a mark of 30:12.8.
The JV boys group contributed a ninth-place overall team effort spurred by a personal best time of 20:28.8 for Kason Ford as he tallied a 40th place finish.
Cameron Mauck took 44th in 20:39.6, Logan Wyrick ended 97th at 23:13.7, Kolson Gordon was 131st with a mark of 25:44.5, Ian Spencer placed 150th in 26:34.8 and Kinsler Ammons finished 161st clocking in at 27:39.2.
