A Southeastern football player was killed and another arrested after an accident early in the morning on Oct. 8 in Sherman Texas, according to Sherman Police.
Twenty-three-year-old Dylan Sebock was killed and the driver, De’Teaurean Johnson, were in a rollover crash and both were ejected. Johnson was arrested for suspicion of intoxication manslaughter, and he is being held on $500,000 bond In a statement, Southeastern said it was aware of a serious accident involving two of its students.
“We are deeply saddened to confirm that one student has died as a result of the accident,” the university said. “The other student was hospitalized. Our hearts are with their families, friends, teammates, and all those affected by this tragic loss. The University is providing support and resources to members of our campus community who have been impacted.”
Johnson was taken to the hospital and then booked into the Grayson County Jail.
Sebock was from Midwest City, and Johnson is from Denison.
Franki Sebock, who is Sebock’s aunt/mother, said on a GoFundMe page that the family’s hearts are shattered because of the devastating loss.
“Dylan was a senior college football player at Southeastern Oklahoma State University, where he proudly wore #97 and played defensive end,” she said. “This was supposed to be his senior year—a year our family had looked forward to for so long.”
She said the family was trying to understand how to say goodbye.
“Anyone who knew Dylan knows that football was only one part of who he was,” Sebock said. “Dylan was goofy. He could make you laugh when you didn’t want to laugh. He loved joking around, being silly, and bringing his personality into a room. Behind that big defensive end was someone’s baby boy, a family member, a teammate, a friend, and a young man who had his entire life ahead of him.”
