Wade, OK-    Wendell Ross Wells, 76, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2024 in his home.  Wendell was born Tuesday, August 12, 1947 in Bokchito, Oklahoma to Ruben Wells and Oma Mozelle (Cozbey) Wells. 

Wendell grew up in the Bokchito and Wade area.  He worked many years in the oil field as a tool pusher, working in west Texas, then to Alaska where he helped build major pipelines.  Even though Wendell worked far from home, he always considered Wade his home.  After coming back to Wade, he enjoyed farming and ranching and being outdoors.  Wendell was an avid reader, enjoyed hunting, fishing, and hog hunting.  He was of the Baptist faith.

Wendell was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother Larry Wells; brother Levvin Wells; sister Kathy Mize; and nephew Kevin Wells.

He is survived by his significant other, Norma, of Wade; daughters, Sheila and Amy; son, Stacie; step-children, Troy and Janine; brother, Lendy Wells of Bennington; sister, Estelle Poljakow and her husband Simon of Durant; several grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 12, at Brown’s Funeral Home chapel in Durant with Pastors Jay Perry and Ryan Perry officiating.  Graveside committal services will follow at Jackson Cemetery pavilion southeast of Bennington with Ed Jones, Casey Jones, Chad Currie, Duke Kirk, Brian Wilson, and Bradley Wilson, serving as pallbearers.
