Calera trips Caddo for conference baseball title

The Calera Bulldogs overcame an early 4-0 deficit to rally past Caddo, 12-4, last week and claimed the Bryan County Conference baseball championship. After a rugged start, thanks in part to a pair of Calera errors and three straight Bruin hits to start the contest, Bulldog ace Logan Bumgarner settled in and stifled the visitors the rest of the way.

School record falls as DHS track competes well

Durant’s Lady Lion track and field team claimed top honors in their own annual meet last week as well as placing fifth in the rugged Ardmore Invitational. The boys’ squad, meanwhile, took third place in their Durant Invitational and ended up fourth in the team standings at Ardmore.

Two-time defending state champ Caddo began its playoff quest for a third straight slow pitch title last week, posting three shutouts in Class 3A district tournament action. Silo, meanwhile, cruised to dominant wins as well with a Class 4A district tournament sweep of Hartshorne.

Southeastern’s baseball and softball teams each found the going rough against Harding University in conference action over the weekend with the softball team notching the only win in six games with a wild 10-9 extra inning verdict on Friday.

Silo notches big softball wins, Caddo claims tourney

Silo tuned up for the Class 4A slow pitch playoffs in impressive fashion last week, posting six wins in seven games with the only loss coming to 6A powerhouse Moore. The fourth-ranked Lady Rebels scored a pair of wins over fellow 4A top 10 members Latta (16-0) and Coalgate (5-3) to open the week before bouncing Class A top-rated Binger-Oney, 3A number three Ripley and 2A fourthranked Sterling.

DHS track places at Atoka, Ada meets

Durant’s high school track squad took the challenge of split squad competitions last week as one group competed at Atoka and the other in Ada with a number of medalists for each. At the Atoka meet, Durant had three individual titlists led by Laila Ahmed in the girls’ high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 4 inches.
