The Caddo Lady Bruins reached the Class A state fast pitch tournament for the seventh straight year with a regional sweep last week.
Silo meanwhile kept its season rolling into this week’s Class 3A super regional round with a dominant regional title push of its own.
Both teams will be playing later this week as the postseason continues.
Caddo Lady Bruins
A game one 3-1 victory over Rock Creek turned into a bit of a nail biter as the Lady Mustangs’ pitcher Kami Wilson kept the Caddo bats in check most of the way.
Caddo however put three runs on the scoreboard in the fourth inning, which provided the difference as the Lady Bruins’ Brylee Daniel tossed a complete game three-hitter that included 10 strikeouts.
Rock Creek had the early edge after an inside-the-park home run from Maddie Williams to open the contest.
That’s how it remained until the decisive fourth stanza in which Gage Vaughn ignited the rally with a one-out triple and scored on a Lila Hughes sacrifice fly. Audrey Hughes added another triple after a Rock Creek error and Harlee Taylor drove in the final run with a single. Vaughn and Taylor each posted a pair of hits to lead the offense.
The Lady Bruins wasted no time in taking control against Rattan in a 10-0 winner’s bracket final verdict as Caddo scored at least once in all but one frame of the six-inning run rule.
That was way more than enough support for Paxtyn Pearson, who fired a complete game three-hit shutout, striking out three and walking none.
Daniel was a key contributor offensively with a single, triple and three runs batted in. Lila Hughes also posted two hits with one apiece by Kayden Prince, Braylee Malone, Kiersyn Powell, Vaughn, Audrey Hughes, Kavie Powell, Taylor, Laynie Busby and Maddie Boehme.
In the title tilt, Daniel got the pitching start and twirled all seven innings, yielding a pair of hits with six strikeouts and two walks.
Caddo took the lead with two first inning runs and never let the foot off the throttle.
Prince and Audrey Hughes pitched in a pair of hits apiece while Malone, Daniel, Kiersyn Powell, Vaughn, Lila Hughes, Rylee Collier and Taylor all ended with one hit.
Silo Lady Rebels
Coach Morgen Hollingshed’s club were in command from the start with 10-0 and 11-0 run rule blankings of Sequoyah Claremore in capturing the regional crown.
Silo notched three runs in the second inning of the opener to surge in front and that proved to be all the Lady Rebels would need. Neely House reached on an error ahead of two-out singles by Parri Garrett and Trinity Ford as well as a Kamrey Hendricks double.
Brylee Smothers cruised in the pitching circle with five strong innings, scattering three hits and seven strikeouts along the way.
Hendricks tallied three hits and drove in a pair while Maddix Sander tossed in a double, triple and one RBI. Adri Standridge and Garrett notched two hits and two runs batted in apiece while Ford knocked in three runs.
Game two was much of the same as Kostina Tubby tossed a no-hitter with six stellar frames, fanning six and walking just one batter.
It was a double fest for the Lady Rebels as seven of the nine batters in the lineup all doubled. Hendricks had one of those as one of her three hits. Paisley LaRoche posted three hits as well with Tubby adding two and four RBI. House and Standridge also pitched in two hits apiece.
