For the 11th straight season, Silo advanced to the fast pitch state tournament with a twogame sweep of Westville in the Class 3A best-of-three Super Regional series last week.
The Lady Rebels notched a narrow 4-2 win in game two before blasting the Lady Yellowjackets, 12-0, in the second contest to improve their record to 30-6-1.
Silo was slated to meet District 3A-8 rival Kingston in the state tournament opener at the Firelake Complex in Shawnee this weekend.
In the opener, Silo rode a stellar pitching start from Brylee Smothers to victory as the senior went all seven innings, yielding two unearned runs on three hits with nine strikeouts and a pair of walks.
The Lady Rebels broke on top with a run in the second frame as Adri Standridge smacked a two-out RBI double and tacked on two more tallies in the fourth. Kostina Tubby provided a double before a pair of sacrifice hits from Paisley LaRoche and Neely House. Standridge then knocked in another after Paislee Johnson singled and courtesy runner Danae Cadena stole second.
Westville scratched two of its hits sandwiched around a Silo error in the sixth to narrow the gap to 3-2 but Tubby put the finishing touches on the win with a solo home run in the bottom of the frame.
Game two proved to be all Lady Rebels as they scored four in the first, three in the second and three more runs in the third and never looked back en route to the run rule verdict.
Tubby got the pitching start and twirled a one-hit complete game shutout, fanning a pair and walking just one.
Offensively, junior Maddix Sander was the catalyst as she belted a triple and home run as well as driving in five runs and scoring another three. Tubby had two hits, including a double, and drove in a pair.
Parri Garrett and Kamrey Hendricks also chipped in two hits apiece with one each by Trinity Ford, LaRoche and House.
