A pair of Durant Lady Lion wrestlers continued their early season success in claiming individual championships in the inaugural Ardmore Holiday Invitational last week.

Senior Addison Polk led the charge for the Lady Lions, sweeping through the round robin bracket in the 105-pound weight division. The only non fall victory for the Durant stalwart came against teammate Alexa Hall, who was also wrestling in the 105 class.

Polk took down Madison Mc-Mahon in a first period pin at the 1:57 mark. She then followed with a second period fall victory over Lilli Hollingback of Yukon in 2:23. Polk’s triumph over Hall was a 17-2 technical fall verdict.

Durant’s Loryn Lopez also picked up the 110-pound tournament title with a pair of first period pin fall victories. The first came over Tyicee Morgan-Nguyen of Ardmore in 1:28 and then she needed only 1:31 for the second decision.

Hall dropped all three of her matches at 105 pounds while Chloe Marlow lost a pair verdicts at 145.

The Lady Lions are scheduled to be back in action this weekend at the prestigious Supergirl 64 Tournament at Tulsa Union.
