There’s a lot of uncertainty for the Southeastern men’s basketball team heading into the 2025-26 campaign as the Savage Storm were pegged ninth in preseason voting by Great American Conference coaches.
The Savage Storm have several key pieces to replace, most notably interior standout Robert Briley, who notched multiple double-doubles.
Coach Kelly Green’s returning nucleus includes 6-5 senior Chandler Dickinson, 6-5 junior Santiago Camacho Gomez and 6-7 sophomore Ethan Wilkerson, all of which started at various times a season ago.
Dickinson averaged 8.2 points per game and shot 37 percent on three pointers, Camacho Gomez tossed in 9.4 points an outing and 43 percent three point shooting while Wilkerson added 6.3 points a night, 3.8 rebounds and nearly 50 percent shooting from the field.
“Chandler has played quite a bit over the last few years,” Green said. “He moves the ball really well on the offensive end. Camacho has gotten good minutes the last couple years as well. He really came on strong and played some point last year but that’s not his natural position. Ethan had to step in and compete some inside a year ago and he will get even more minutes this year. We are going to be counting on him heavily to step up even more and we think he will.”
Also back for Southeastern are Jalen Williams, Andrija Brzovic and Tyler Long, who came off the bench for key minutes at times last season with expectations also high for 6-6 redshirt Bela Clobes from Germany.
Williams pitched in 4.3 points and 46 percent shooting while Brzovic added 2.7 points and 2.1 rebounds in limited action.
“Jalen and Tyler had some nice moments at times last year,” Green said. “Clobes is an athletic guy with length that can shoot a little. Brzovic has im- and downs early. We just want to be ready for conference seasons. We have challenged the youngsters that we’re not looking to take a step back despite our youth.
“Getting easy baskets and getting to the foul line will be key. Early on, we’re expecting a pretty big rotation. You only can figure out so much from practice so we’ll see soon.”
