Silo tuned up for the Class 4A slow pitch playoffs in impressive fashion last week, posting six wins in seven games with the only loss coming to 6A powerhouse Moore. The fourth-ranked Lady Rebels scored a pair of wins over fellow 4A top 10 members Latta (16-0) and Coalgate (5-3) to open the week before bouncing Class A top-rated Binger-Oney, 3A number three Ripley and 2A fourthranked Sterling.

DHS track places at Atoka, Ada meets

Durant’s high school track squad took the challenge of split squad competitions last week as one group competed at Atoka and the other in Ada with a number of medalists for each. At the Atoka meet, Durant had three individual titlists led by Laila Ahmed in the girls’ high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 4 inches.

Durant falls to Santa Fe South on Senior Night

Both Durant High School girls and boys soccer teams ran into a buzz saw in their final home contests of the season last week, dropping both decisions to powerhouse Santa Fe South from Oklahoma City. The Lady Lions got off to an early lead before suffering a 4-2 defeat while the Lions were on the defensive throughout in a 7-0 setback.

DHS track places high at Bridge Creek, Plainview

A busy week for the Durant High track teams resulted in several high finishes in track meets at Bridge Creek and Plainview. The Lady Lions posted a runner-up team showing at Plainview while the Lions took third in the meet.
