Durant High School Key Club brings sweet treats to Kiwanis Club

Durant Kiwanis Club hosted the annual DHS Key Club Bake Sale just in time for Valentine’s Day. Key Club bakers tempted Kiwanis members into friendly bidding wars for delicious goods. Sweet treats varied from festive cakes, pies, cupcakes, cookies, and brownies to unique wrapped candy baskets.

Choctaw Nation holds groundbreaking ceremony for new Durant Community Center

On Friday, February 28, the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma broke ground on a new community center in Durant, nearly doubling the existing facility’s capacity. The new community center is approximately 12,500 square feet, almost 3,00 square feet more than the existing center.

When I got the call from Gay Cunningham a few months ago, I’d never heard of A Night to Shine. It’s an event hosted each year across the nation by Tim Tebow’s foundation, for people aged 14 and up with disabilities.
