Bryan County Sheriff’s Deputy Austin Murray was named the 2024 Officer of the Year last week by Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond during a ceremony at the the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.

New Christmas tree lights up Market Square

The lights for a new City of Durant Christmas tree were turned on during a ceremony at Market Square last week after the downtown Christmas parade. The tree was recently purchased by the city at a cost of $30,000 and in year’s past, the city has used a real Christmas tree at city hall.
