Chances are you can walk into your kitchen and quickly fill a glass with ice from the ice maker built into your refrigerator. Your ancestors living in early Bryan County would be amazed by such a luxury. Many of them depended on an ice company to deliver ice to their homes in town.

Local artist Jane Semple Umsted will be inducted into the 2024 Oklahoma Women’s Hall of Fame, the Oklahoma Commission on the Status of Women announced. The Southeastern Oklahoma State University alumna will be one of six inductees who will be honored during a ceremony Sept.

A single-vehicle crash claimed the lives of two people, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said. According to OHP, Casey Mc-Cullough, 35, Mead, and Kerrissa Stopp, 38, Bokchito, were dead at the scene of the 3:27 a.m.

A dedicated member of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol was remembered during a memorial service Sept. 6 at the Tushka High School Gymnasium OHP Lt. Brian Fugate, 45, passed away from pancreatic cancer on Sept. 1. He was a lieutenant stationed with OHP’s Troop E headquartered in Durant.

KINGSTON — On August 26, Honey Creek Ventures hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the Waterside at Lake Texoma residential neighborhood. The event, held under a large outdoor tent on Post Office Road south of Kingston, was attended by approximately 40 guests.
