Summer heat brings dehydration

It’s almost summer and with summer comes the heat. As June begins, the heat rises every day. When the heat rises, it makes being outside hard to do because of it. As the summer progresses, we will see all ages of people outside; playing, gardening, running, walking, and even just sitting around.

Choctaw Nation to receive $5M grant from US Department of Energy

The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma was selected by the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations to begin award negotiations for up to $5 million in Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding as part of the Energy Improvements in Rural or Remote Areas (ERA) program.

After weeks of negotiations and eight budget summits, I am happy to report that the House and Senate finally came to an agreement on how to allocate the approximately $13 billion available for fiscal year 2025. Even though we agreed to a budget, we still have work to do.

Main Street improvement discussed at recent workshops

Many ideas were discussed during recent workshops on how to improve Main Street from First to 21st avenues. The workshops, held at the library, were sponsored by the Durant Sustainability Coalition in partnership with the Durant Trails and Open Space group.
