One of the most popular questions that I have been asked over the years is the question: “Why does God…?”. We can fill in the blank with several words or phrases like; allow tragic deaths of loved ones, or allow natural disasters, or permit so much sin to continue in this world?

Medical student returns to Durant for rural externship

Bailee Arthur, a secondyear medical student at OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine at the Cherokee Nation, has returned to her hometown for a clinical externship at the Durant Residency Clinic, aspart of the school’s Rural Track Program.

Matt Swearengin has a display at the Semple Family Musuem of Native American Art of the many photos he has taken of news events and places in Bryan County. Donna Clarkson and Benjamin Smith are looking at the photos. This was part of a presentation by Matt and his brother Mark.

Durant High School had an open house July 31 for the take-off of their new aviation lab where they will build an airplane while preparing students for a future in aviation.

Durant First United Bank had a splash for school supplies Aug. 1 and for five bucks, water balloons were hurled at loan operations staff members.
