Bryan County All Conference honors for baseball and slow pitch softball have been announced with top honors going to a host of state tournament qualifiers.
On the baseball side, league Most Valuable Player honors went to Jake McKay of Caddo, who helped spur the Bruins back to the Class A state tournament with his solid play at shortstop. McKay hit .384 with an even better onbase percentage out of the leadoff spot with five doubles, team-high 45 runs scored, 13 batted in with 19 walks and 15 stolen bases. He also chipped in a 4-3 record on the mound with a save in 27 1/3 innings, adding 27 strikeouts and a 1.53 earned run average.
The other top diamond honor went to Colbert’s Kaden Neill as the Conference Pitcher of the Year as he posted a 9-2 record in a team-leading 70 innings. That mark included 41 hits allowed, 85 strikeouts, 13 walks and a tremendous 0.60 ERA.
All Conference team selections also included Bayler Black and Boen Proctor of Caddo, the Colbert duo of Trevor Jackson and Brett Parsons, Calera’s Logan Bumgarner as well as Kason Hull, Jaxson Gregory and D.J. Alberda from Tushka.
The Bryan County All Star list had Cale Wigington of Caddo, Braxton Reese from Colbert, Calera’s Lex Carlton, Demarcus Dunn and Hoff Weil, the Rock Creek trio of Kelton Teal, Kenneth Ashby and Konnor Ribera along with Tushka’s Jake Langley.
For slow pitch, league coaches selected Co-Most Valuable Players with Presley Beck from Caddo and Brinlee Anderson of Tushka.
Beck wrapped up another stellar slow pitch season with a .656 average at the plate, 1.396 slugging percentage and .737 on-base percentage that was exemplified by a state-leading 35 walks. She still blasted 18 homers and drove in 66 runs.
On the All Conference slate were Caddo’s Braylee Malone, Kayden Cowan and Brylee Daniel, the Calera duo of Auhnesty Maytubby and Kaira Beller, Rock Creek’s Maddie Williams as well as Kylee Webb and Kylie Lee of Tushka.
Slow pitch All Star honorees were Lauren Polson, Kat Fisher, Megan Vineyard and Kennedy Sullinger all from Colbert, Calera’s Tori Allmon and Makenna Owens, Jess O’Dell and Emma Green from Rock Creek along with Tushka’s Callie Boren.
