After a lengthy layoff thanks largely to weather the Durant Lady Lion basketball team got back on track Friday with a 49-42 district road win at Tulsa Memorial. The Lions weren’t quite as fortunate in dropping a 68-37 verdict to the powerful Chargers.

The Southeastern women’s basketball team ran its winning streak to five with an important road sweep at Arkansas-Monticello and Southern Arkansas last week to claw back into the Great American Conference playoff chase.

Caddo 73, Hartshorne 62 (boys) Sophomore stalwart Beck Willingham tallied a doubledouble and Caddo rode an early lead to an impressive win over Class 2A’s eighth-ranked Hartshorne. Caddo was up 20-11 after one stanza and maintained the lead throughout despite a couple of Miner threats.

Lions claim Little Axe powerlifting meet title

Durant’s high school powerlifting team ran away from the competition to a dominant championship in the Large School division at the Little Axe Invitational recently. The Lions tallied 284 points with El Reno a distant second place at 189 while Woodward was third with 160 points.
