Calera drops tough pair to Rattan, Latta

Riding high after an opening victory, the Calera Bulldogs ran into a pair of perennial basketball buzz saws last week in dropping two contests. In girls’ action, the Lady Bulldogs came out on the short end of a 48-18 verdict to Rattan and then 61-20 against a powerful Latta club.

RUSTON, La. – The Southeastern Flight Team competed in the National Intercollegiate Flying Association’s Region IV SAFECON earlier in October at Louisiana Tech University.

In a Top 5 state battle in Class B1, Caddo gave defending state champ Dewar all it wanted but a pair of empty red zone chances proved costly in a 34-32 defeat last week at Bruin Field.

Facing a win-and-in playoff situation for their first postseason berth in 14 years, the Durant Lions struggled offensively and defense had its back to the wall much of the night in a 38-8 Bishop Kelley victory that advanced the Comets to the Class 5A playoffs.

Junior Avery Sager tallied a sixth place individual finish while leading the Durant Lady Lions to 10th as a team in the Class 5A State Cross Country Championships last weekend at Edmond Santa Fe. Sager maneuvered the 5 kilometer course in a time of 19 minutes, 45.
