84th Durant PRCA Rodeo returns this weekend

The Annual Durant Round Up Club Rodeo makes its return to town this weekend for its 84th season and fifth year on the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association’s Prairie Circuit that culminates with the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas.

Junior Tucker Tonubbee finished off a stellar 2025 season on the links for the Durant High golf team, becoming the first Lion golfer with three rounds in the 80s at the Class 5A state tournament in 15 years.

Two Lions named All-District, Parsons resigns

Fresh off its first Class 5A state tournament appearance since 2017 Durant had a pair of All-District baseball selections in a vote of 5A-4 coaches. Junior Cole Robbins was chosen as the All-District third baseman while sophomore Aiden Diviney became a two-time league honoree in the outfield.

The Calera Bulldogs notched their first-ever state baseball tournament victory with an 11-1 thumping of Latta last week but bowed out of the Class 2A Division 1 event in a 14-5 loss to eventual champ Cashion.

Silo erupted for its highest state tournament scoring production since 2017 with an 18-2 blasting of Metro Christian but the Rebel bats weren’t able to come up with enough key hits in a 3-2 loss to three-time defending champ Washington in the semifinals.

Much like their last trip to the Class 5A state baseball tournament in 2017, the Durant Lions rolled in with plenty of momentum but ran into a virtual buzz saw in a loss to the eventual state champions last week in Sapulpa.
