Cook promoted to DHS girls soccer head coach

Growing up around the sport of soccer, Ryan Cook had visions of ultimately being a head coach in the sport. Little did the 2012 Durant High School graduate know that would come at his alma mater.

Vaughn of Caddo pins opponent for Gold, qualifies for USMC Junior Nationals

TULSA — Gage Vaughn of the Madill Takedown Club made history as Southern Oklahoma’s only Junior-level girl to conquer the 2025 USAOKW Freestyle/ Greco State Championship. That tournament took place at the Arvest Convention Center on May 24, 2025, over the Memorial Day holiday weekend.

Bull riders win top money in 84th PRCA Rodeo

Missouri bull rider Creek Young scored an 84-point ride on the bull Wagon Bru to claim the top money prize of $3,638 to cap last week’s 84th Durant PRCA Rodeo at the Riding Club Arena.

Sorrels leads Durant netters at state tourney

Ella Sorrels posted a sixth place state finish and Lucas Carpenter was just shy of placing as each competed a number two singles to lead the Durant High tennis teams in the Class 5A State Tournament in Oklahoma City.
